Happy Cinco de Mayo from Carolina Farm Credit! The holiday is celebrated on May 5th of every year. It is observed to commemorate freedom and democracy during the first years of the American Civil War. On May 5th of 1862, the smaller Mexican army held off the French troops in the Battle of Puebla. Today the date is observed in the United States as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride.
