It is hard to believe that this summer has already come and gone. One of the many things that come to mind after reflecting on this experience is grateful.
We should all have something we are passionate about, something that drives us everyday, and something that gives us hope. Carolina Farm Credit gave me just that this summer. The passion and kindness that the employees of this association have is contagious. They go above and beyond their job description to ensure that the customer is done right by. Agriculture is such a vital part of our everyday life. Just as CFC does, we must always support and stand behind farmers AND their families because we all know it takes a village. I could not be more thankful and appreciative of everything CFC has done for me this summer. It was truly an opportunity of a lifetime.
Throughout the past few weeks, the other interns and I have been working on our assigned project. We were asked to find out specifically how young farmers want to be marketed to – what do they like, what do they not like, etc. We recently met to collaborate and to put our results together. We are extremely excited to present our findings to the Carolina Farm Credit administration in a couple of weeks.
We also had the opportunity to visit the Metrolina Greenhouses as well as a Tilapia farm. It was pretty amazing to get to walk the largest greenhouse in the U.S.A.
In addition to all of the experiences I have had with Carolina Farm Credit this summer, I also attended the Agriculture Future of America, AFA, Crop Science Institute last week. While there, I met with crop science professionals, discussed issues, trends, and opportunities facing agriculture, and networked with students from all across the country. It was an incredible opportunity that I was lucky enough to be apart of.
Arneisha, Elizabeth, & Grayson – I am so glad I got experience this with you all. You are extremely talented individuals and I cannot wait to see where this life takes you. “’For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares The Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Thank you for being the best intern team out there.
To all of the mentors I have had along the way – Thank you for really taking the time to teach me. The Carthage, Ellerbe, and Siler City branches always welcomed me with open arms. You all have made an everlasting impact on my life that I will always carry with me. The way that CFC has invested in me is something I am so thankful for. Your advice, guidance, and knowledge will continue with me throughout my career. I cannot thank you enough for the kindness and Godliness you all have shown me. It was an honor to learn from you all.
As the start of my senior year at North Carolina State University is approaching in a couple of weeks, I found myself reflecting on everything in my life: the good, the bad, how much I have grown, the loved ones I have lost along the way, the lifelong friends I have met. The one thing that has always remained constant is my relationship with The Lord. How awesome is it that I had a job that allowed and encouraged my relationship with Jesus to grow? I am extremely appreciative of all the opportunities CFC has given me. Thank you for a summer full of Faith, Family & Farm Credit. As always, Go Pack!!
