How is the summer already over? It’s seems like just yesterday I was nervously walking in the doors of the administration office in Statesville on my first day! Over this summer, I’ve gotten to experience so many various things—from loan processing to farm tours!
A lot has happened in the few short weeks since my last blog post! James Taylor was kind enough to take a group of interns and new employees to Metronlina Greenhouses in Huntersville. This was an AMAZING trip because it opened my eyes to a form of agriculture that I had never experienced before. Metrolina is the largest greenhouse in the country; they supply Lowes, Walmart, and Home Depot stores; and have about 170 acres under glass!! It was truly an unforgettable experience.
Back at my home office in Sparta, we have been working on loan closings, customer visits, and appraisals. My loan officer, Stacey Barker, has been the best teacher this summer and I will be forever thankful for her! I have had the opportunity to watch a loan go from start to finish and it has been so rewarding! We have been to visit some customers, and just so everyone knows, Carolina Farm Credit has the BEST customers! Each person that we visited was so inviting to us, knowledgeable about their operation, humble, and kind. It was very refreshing to meet such wonderful farmers, learn about their operation, and know that Carolina Farm Credit is helping them reach their dreams.
I have also had the opportunity to go out on some land appraisals. This past week, Stacey, Wendy Gunter, and I went to appraise a tract of land. It was quite the adventure! We walked most of the tract and decided we better grab a few sticks in case we ran into any “not-so-nice” wildlife. Or maybe it was because of the dogs we heard barking, along with the “Beware of Dog” signs? Anyways, we made it out alive and even got a pretty good look at the land!
As I spend my last couple of weeks with Farm Credit, I will be reminiscing on the memories that I’ve made while here. I have been blessed to work for an organization that’s values align so well with my own. I learned that a company that prays together is a company that I want to work for. Carolina Farm Credit has given me endless opportunities this summer to learn and grow as a professional in the agriculture industry. I am so thankful for coworkers who have became more like family, customers who have opened my eyes to the wonderful world of agriculture, and a company that has changed my life forever. Thank you Carolina Farm Credit for an awesome summer!
