My name is Grayson Dearman and I am a Loan Officer Intern at the Statesville branch of Carolina Farm Credit. I am currently a senior at North Carolina State University majoring in Agriculture Business Management with a minor in Leadership in Agriculture and Life Sciences.
I have grown up down the road in Mooresville, North Carolina and never knew how much of an impact agriculture had on Iredell County. Through my short time here I have been fortunate enough to have many opportunities like working with customers on loans, going out to various agriculture operations and how Carolina Farm Credit plays a pivotal role in providing support to them.
I never thought in my life that I would end up working for anything agriculture related. But as soon as I showed up the first day I felt like I was right at home. I was so taken back be the generosity of everyone and how welcoming the workplace was. It made transition very simple and effortless. As someone who does not come from an Ag background both the employees and customers have provided me with valuable information and the patience of a saint as I ask every question I can possibly think of.
During my short time here, I have gotten to tour many different agriculture operations across Iredell County with my fellow interns and employees. These have included a dairy farm, green houses, a distillery and other various farms. All of these have been amazing and have given me the chance to gain a better understanding of everything. The dairy farm that I toured was amazing. I was a little overwhelmed at how intricate the business was, but it was interesting. I was able to witness the milking process and get a little bit of a first hand experience with the way they run things.
I am very grateful to be apart of such a fantastic team here at Carolina Farm Credit. Getting to know everyone in my branch has been exciting and a great experience so far. I look forward to the next couple months and sharing my experiences with you all.
