STATESVILLE, NC – The Statesville High School FFA was recently awarded a grant through Carolina Farm Credit’s Corporate Mission Fund. The funds will be used to help start an FFA chapter at the school. Money will be used to buy jackets and other items for students who cannot afford to purchase them. This funding will help the new program gain membership and provide new learning opportunities to students.

STATESVILLE, NC – The Agriculture Department at Bethel Middle School (Haywood County) was recently awarded a grant as part of Carolina Farm Credit’s Corporate Mission Fund. The department will use the grant funds to purchase new machinery and tools for the schools workshop. The new tools will allow for a hands-on classroom experience where students will be able to apply and develop their skills.
STATESVILLE, NC –Blawesome (Orange County) was recently awarded a grant as part of Carolina Farm Credit’s Corporate Mission Fund. Grant funds will be used to cover labor costs associated with building a new barn and greenhouse at the farm. The barn will feature a cooling unit and work area, and the 10’x20’ greenhouse will increase the opportunities available to participants and employees.

STATESVILLE, NC – The Carolina Antique Power Association (Rowan County) was recently awarded a grant as part of Carolina Farm Credit’s Corporate Mission Fund. Grant funds are being used to complete construction on a 60’x80’ metal-sided building that will house the Country Life Museum at Sloan Park. When completed the museum will be open to school groups and the general public.
STATESVILLE, NC – The Hunger and Health Coalition (Watauga County) recently received a grant as part of Carolina Farm Credit’s Corporate Mission Fund. The grant funds will be used to purchase locally grown vegetables, eggs, and other foods. The hope of the project is to provide lower income families in Watauga County with healthier food options.

STATESVILLE, NC – The staff of the Statesville Branch of Carolina Farm Credit recently volunteered with Shepherd’s Watch. Employees purchased and constructed a swing set to be used by youth attending camp.
STATESVILLE, NC – The staff of the Ellerbe Branch of Carolina Farm Credit recently volunteered at The Smith Family Home. Employees donated their time to create a picnic area for residents. The staff purchased and constructed picnic tables and a swing set to be used.
STATESVILLE, NC – The staff of the Lincolnton Branch of Carolina Farm Credit recently volunteered at Love Memorial Elementary School. The staff purchased backpacks and food to donate to the school’s Backpack Program that fills and sends home approximately 30 backpacks of food each week for students in need. The staff spent a day shopping, packing backpacks, and delivering the backpacks to the school.

STATESVILLE, NC – The staff of the Graham Branch of Carolina Farm Credit recently volunteered with Kopper Top Life Learning Center, a therapeutic riding center in Liberty, NC. Employees were able to help replace fencing, put up a new gate, and trim weeds around the property.
STATESVILLE, NC – The staff of the Conover Branch of Carolina Farm Credit recently volunteered at The Corner Table Soup Kitchen. Employees donated a new freezer, and spent time volunteering at the soup kitchen.
STATESVILLE, NC – The staff of the Waynesville Branch of Carolina Farm Credit recently volunteered with Haywood County Habitat for Humanity. Employees purchased building materials and assisted building two storage buildings for two future homeowners in the Walton Woods community.
STATESVILLE, NC – The staff of the Spindale Branch of Carolina Farm Credit recently volunteered at The Spindale Habitat Restore. Employees donated purchased supplies and help to renovate spaces used by store volunteers. The group was able to paint, install bead board, and purchase a vanity for the volunteer bathroom. The group also purchased new light fixtures for the donation area.

STATESVILLE, NC – Isothermal Community College was recently awarded a grant as part of Carolina Farm Credit’s Corporate Mission Fund. Grant funds will be used to help finish construction of a barn and greenhouse to enhance the schools Agribusiness Technology degree program by providing a space where students receive hands-on training.

STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit is excited to announce that participants for the 8th annual Ag Biz Planner course have been chosen. The Ag Biz Planner program is an e-learning financial and business planning course whose curriculum includes financial and business planning, budgeting and other money matters essential to a farm’s success. Each couple is paired with an experienced Carolina Farm Credit Loan Officer to mentor them throughout the program.

STATESVILLE, NC – The staff of the Asheville Branch of Carolina Farm Credit recently volunteered at the home of Royce Canty and family. The staff, in coordination with the Multiple Sclerosis Society helped make improvements to the family’s home.
STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit recently hosted winners of the Farm Credit Fresh Perspectives competition. 100 finalists were selected from across the country based on their efforts and leadership in shaping the future of agriculture.

STATESVILLE, NC –The Farm Credit Associations of North Carolina purchased the Reserve Champion lamb with a winning bid of $10,500. Carolina Farm Credit partnered with AgCarolina Farm Credit and Cape Fear Farm Credit to support the NC State Fair Jr. Livestock Sale of Champions. The winning goat was exhibited by Cynthia Connolly, 14, of Mount Ulla, NC. Connolly will receive 60% of the purchase amount, while the remaining 40% will go to support youth scholarships and livestock programs in North Carolina.

STATESVILLE, NC – For the second year, Carolina Farm Credit distributed grants from its Corporate Mission Fund. $144,000 was donated to 27 local organizations and 8 college students in 2016, an increase from last year’s $100,000.

STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit’s employees recently donated items to the USO of North Carolina. At their recent employee appreciation day, employees were encouraged to bring items that will be distributed to military personnel passing through the Charlotte area. In conjunction with the 100th anniversary of Farm Credit, a goal of 100 items was set. This goal was exceeded in stunning fashion. A $1,000 check was also presented to the USO on behalf of Carolina Farm Credit and its employees.

STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit is retiring $10.8 million in cash, representing 100% of the 2009 series of qualified allocated surplus and 100% of the 2009 series of non-qualified allocated surplus. The Association had already declared a patronage of $12.4 million in April of this year. With cash patronage in the spring, and the retirement of this surplus, the total cash returned to stockholders in 2016 is $23.2 million.

STATESVILLE, NC – The staff of the Wilkesboro Branch of Carolina Farm Credit recently helped to build a sandbox at the Ebenezer Christian Children’s Home. The sandbox was built outside of the Faith House, which houses up to eight young boys at any one time.

STATESVILLE, NC – The staff of the Boone Branch of Carolina Farm Credit recently helped to winterize a chicken coop and create a water catchment system for the community garden at Hospitality House. The non-profit works to feed and house local lower-income residents of the High Country. Hospitality House provides as much food as possible from their local garden and chicken coop to feed the residents at the house.

Along with landscaping, the staff also purchased and delivered school supplies to be used in the classroom.

The institute, held at Omni Grove Park Inn, brought together and celebrated young, beginning, and small farmers. The Carolina Farm Credit Board of Directors recently approved adding an additional $2 million dollars to this fund. 2016 is the second year that grants will be distributed from the earnings of the fund.

STATESVILLE, NC – Carolina Farm Credit, its employees, and board members donated over $5,600 to local charities in 2015. Over $2,800 was collected by employees and board members who participated in a charity contribution throughout 2015 and Carolina Farm Credit matched the employee and director donations. Each of the Carolina Farm Credit 35 branch offices submitted a local charity choice and six charities were selected through a random drawing to divide the donations.
